I HATE Naraka's New Map

Описание: I hate Naraka’s new map "The Maelstrom".

Maelstrom revolves around the Chaos Sea, a toxic ocean that covers around two thirds of the map and kills you within seconds. Instead of encouraging fights, it forces players to constantly optimize rotations and avoid large parts of the playable area. For a melee-focused battle royale like Naraka, this fundamentally changes how the game feels -- in a bad way.

The remaining land consists of randomly generated islands made from old maps, connected by floating island bridges that act as frustrating choke points. The terrain feels restrictive, the verticality is overwhelming, and getting stranded due to bad circle RNG or missing grapples can easily end your match.

The new red weapons (Dual Blades, Greatsword, Bow) grant Chaos Sea immunity and massive power spikes, so they are impossible to ignore. Since they’re RNG-gated and tied tothe Nexus Realm, an underworld with extremely punishing death mechanics, matches often snowball hard with little to no catch-up potential. Camping Nexus exits and choke points is heavily incentivized, sometimes leading to games ending with barely any real fights.

PVE bosses feel pointless, Nexus mechanics are confusing and buggy (especially in team games), and the map overall lacks polish with crashes, missing textures, floating objects, and broken interactions. Gold zones can get cut off in nonsensical ways.

Even if all technical issues were fixed, I believe the core concept of Maelstrom simply doesn’t fit Naraka. Morus Isle, Holoroth, and Perdoria feel like 10/10 maps to me – Maelstrom feels like a 1/10 that optimization might push to a 2, but no further.

At this point, my friends and I actively hope not to queue into this map, and I genuinely enjoyed Naraka more before it was added. I hope the developers will add a method to opt out of this new map.
