Описание: The trade in Africans began by Arabs and Persians in East Africa in 13th century and was at its heights in 18th and 19th century. This is where the greatest numbers of Africans were captured and sold. Between 11 and 18 million Africans were transported east to Southern Iran, Pakistan, India and the middle east. Horrifyingly, this was reckoned to be only twenty percent of those captured by the slave traders; the estimated death toll of the Arab slave trade is posited at over 112 million Africans. It is therefore surprising that, on the international stage, the Arab slave trade of East Africa tends to fade into insignificance in comparison to the much-debated issue of American slavery which saw the forced translocation of West Africans to the Americas by Europeans.
