Nintendo Failed Again

Описание: Pokémon Legends: Z-A might have started off strong, but it hasn’t quite lived up to the massive benchmarks the franchise is known for. According to the latest official data from The Pokémon Company, the game sold 5.8 million units worldwide in its first week across both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. That’s a big number by most standards — but within Pokémon’s own history, it only ranks as the fifth-best launch ever.

In Japan, things look a little more complicated. Data from Famitsu shows that the game sold about 1.48 million physical copies during its launch week — 872,552 on the Switch and 612,905 on the Switch 2. That’s slightly better than the first-week numbers for Pokémon Legends: Arceus (which did around 1.42 million), but still well behind the massive launch of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, which cleared 2.5 million physical sales in its debut week alone. In other words, Z-A’s Japanese performance was solid — just not exceptional for a mainline Pokémon release.
