Manish Gupta, a businessman from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, died after policemen raided the hotel room in which he and his two business associates were staying, and allegedly thrashed them. Six policemen have been suspended. An FIR under sections of murder have been filed, based on the complaint of Gupta's wife.
His associate claims 5-6 policemen, who seemed drunk, thrashed them after raiding their room, leaving Gupta bleeding profusely. But police claim Gupta fell inside the room accidentally and got injured. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Gupta's wife has demanded that a transparent probe be initiated in the matter and strict action be taken.
