The back-step is the most common defensive counter movement in striking. How your body aligns is going to make or break the movement.
Make sure your body is positioned in the following way during the entire movement for maximum power:
🥊 Shoulders rolled forward (don't straighten up when stepping back).
🥊 Toes on both feet pointed forward (don't point your back foot sideways).
🥊 Push off front foot to start backstep movement and end with weight transfer back to front leg.
