iLogic Integration with Autodesk Inventor: The configurator was built using Autodesk Inventor’s iLogic, enabling seamless parameter-driven updates for column configurations. Changes in height, reveal gaps, and skin dimensions were automatically reflected in the 3D model and drawings.

VB.NET Automation & Recursive Parameters: Used VB.NET to traverse assembly structures, recursively applying rules to manage multiple column design permutations based on height, reveals, and technical zones (e.g., for fire extinguishers or electrical installations).

Product Configuration Governance: Maintained strict governance rules to ensure all columns met the client’s engineering and safety standards. This allowed for automated generation of over 600 column shop packs, each with over 20 pages of fabrication-ready details.

Parametric Modeling & BOM Generation: The tool dynamically generated fully constrained, parametric 3D models and corresponding Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring that all material quantities and dimensions were calculated accurately for production.

Customization for Specific Client Needs: The configurator included advanced customization options, allowing engineers to define technical zones and apply unique design details to each column. This flexibility enabled precise control over non-standard design requirements while maintaining automated workflows.

This solution dramatically increased the client’s engineering productivity by automating complex column designs and generating detailed fabrication drawings for airport renovation projects.
