Spotting is a key element in ballet turns. By focusing on a fixed point in the room and using it as a visual reference, you can maintain balance and prevent dizziness during turns. This technique allows for more controlled and precise rotations, and it's essential for mastering pirouettes.

Detourne, pronounced "day-toor-NAY," is a turning movement that involves rotating on both feet. It's often used to transition between right and left sides of the barre. We'll explore how detourne is connected to sous-sus and how practicing turns towards the barre helps with quick transitions from Right to Left at the barre.

To prepare for pirouettes, we'll practice going from 4th position to passe releve and focus on finding your balance. This foundational exercise will help you gain stability and poise, setting you up for success as we delve into pirouettes in the upcoming lessons.
