The SEAT 600 is a small city car produced in Spain by SEAT (Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo) between 1957 and 1973 under license from Fiat, based on the Italian Fiat 600. It became one of the most iconic cars in Spanish history, symbolizing the nation’s economic recovery and modernization during the post-war era.
The car was powered by a small rear-mounted, water-cooled engine of initially 633 cc (later expanded to 767 cc in some versions) and featured a simple, utilitarian design. Its compact size, low price, and easy maintenance made it extremely popular, especially among middle-class families who could now afford a private vehicle for the first time. The SEAT 600 played a major role in Spain’s motorization, and in its heyday, it was a common sight on every street.
Over 800,000 units were produced, and the car spawned several variants, including the SEAT 600 D, 600 E, and 600 L Especial. Today, it is a beloved classic among collectors and car enthusiasts.
