Welcome to the Fourth Annual Hidradenitis Suppurativa Awareness Week Virtual Summit produced by The Association of Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Inflammatory Diseases (AHSID). The Hidradenitis Suppurativa Awareness Week Virtual Summit educates people living with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), their caregivers, and stakeholders about disease treatment, wound care, alternative medicines, surgical options, and more.

In 2019, we noticed a gap in the HS community. Physicians, researchers, and dermatologists were being educated on HS while patients were left to figure out their complex diagnoses practically on their own. So, we stepped in to fill this gap with information from vetted and trusted specialists treating our community members.

We aim to ensure that our information is valuable, well-researched, and effective in assisting people living with HS on their healing and management journeys. Each session is led by industry, medical, or wellness professionals who are vetted, knowledgeable, revered, and trusted in the community.

The fifth day of the summit is led by Dr. Peter Lio and moderated by the founder of AHSID, Jasmine IVANNA Espy. Physician Dr. Peter Lio will demystify the benefits of using cannabis, specifically CBD, to manage chronic pain and hs. His talk will include describing what CBD is, what it can be used for, why there is interest in it, what the differences are between topical and oral treatments and some suggestions for additional pain management tools.
