Rugby Junction used to be an actual town in Washington County, Wisconsin, that existed at a cross-over track, or junction, between the Soo Line and Milwaukee Road railroads. Located north of Richfield and southeast of Ackerville, Rugby Junction exists only to the railroads today. The passenger depot at the junction once allowed passengers to change trains between the two railroads. The junction track also gave the Soo Line railroad access to the downtown Milwaukee depot via the Milwaukee Road.
In this video, I take a look at the remains of the actual junction track that used to connect what is now the Canadian National and Wisconsin & Southern tracks. Gone is the depot, engine house, and turn table of the steam era, but there is still some evidence of the junction if you look hard enough.
