The youngest of the three brothers Aurelius Cotta, Lucius was politically active for the entire career of his nephew, Gaius Julius Caesar. In his own right, Lucius Cotta helped undo the Sullan judicial system, won one of the most controversial consular elections ever, and was elected Censor. However, it was his role as a pivotal supporter of Caesar at key moments which really gives Lucius Cotta his claim to fame.
