Oxytocin is a peptide hormone that is produced in the hypothalamus. Along with serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins, it is one of the four "feel good hormones" and it promotes positive feelings; you might have heard it being described as the "love/cuddle hormone". In this short video, I'll describe its biochemical function (in childbirth, breastfeeding, and social behaviour), chemical structure, and how the Nobel prize in 1955 was awarded for the synthesis of oxyotocin/vasopressin.
