For coil split mod you are connecting new wires to the actual black connected wires on each humbuckers - not to the white as demonstrated in the video here    • Ten Squier Bullet Mustang HH Mods for arou...  , colour scheme as indicated in the diagram pic is the correct one, sorry for the confusion there.
