This video serves as an addendum to my last video on the exotic PSR J0337+1715 triple system, discussing the recent paper constraining its candidate exoplanet’s mass to just 0.004 Earth masses or so, making it by far the smallest known exoplanet. The planet's orbit is also constrained, revealing clues about its formation and the history of this bizarre stellar system as a whole.
This small object may be called a dwarf planet on account of its puniness. But the current definitions of a planet used by the IAU are vague and Solar System centric. Under some other definitions of a planet, the object in the PSR J0337+1715 system does seem to fall under the category of dwarf planet, making it one of the first ever detected outside our Solar System.
