It is owned by the french state and constitutes as part of EDF group, which is one of the largest energy companies in Europe. Originally formed in January 2002, they're one of the largest generators in the UK and the largest distribution network operator, owning and operating 35 wind farms and eight nuclear power stations. In 2009 EDF energy took control of the nuclear generator in the UK, british energy, buying share capital from the government. This made EDF energy one of the largest generators in the United Kingdom as well as the largest distribution network operator. You may be wondering, who is the CEO of EDF? John Bernard Levy has been the chairman and the CEO of EDF since November 2014. His prior experience includes serving as Chairman and CEO of the sales efense and Aerospace group. EDF has several main offices which are located in London, Croydon, Exeter, Sunderland, Hove, Crawley and Barnwood and EDF Group operates in 20 countries including 13 in Europe. What does EDF energy offer? the company offers a range of different services starting with the customers branch: these services include selling electricity and gas to residential and business customers, organizing field sales and providing meter reading services, providing excellent customer service and offering uk-based call centers. The Networks Branch: distributing electricity to around 8 million homes and businesses, maintaining overhead lines and underground cables, investing in network improvements, forming partnerships with other utility companies and driving innovation. Next we have the energy branch, these services include providing gas and electricity operating coal and gas power stations as well as wind turbines, buying energy from the wholesale market and investing in new technologies. Finally we have corporate functions: these services include providing support to all the other branches and providing additional services that include HR, Finance, Communications and Procurement.
