Описание: Why do ostriches eat tiny little rocks, when birds are supposed to eat natural and organic food to stay healthy? Well, this is actually called gastrolith ingestion. And it is common among many bird species, especially those that consume hard-to-digest foods. But Ostriches, in particular, do this to aid their digestion. This is because they have zero teeth to chew their food and instead rely on their gizzard. Which is the muscular part of the stomach to grind up food. So after eating, they are often seen picking up and swallowing small stones or pebbles. These stones act as grinding tools to help break down tough seeds and plant materials in their diet.
