🙂 Floats are simple and cheap; tuning‑fork switches ignore foam and turbulence. In this episode we show how both work, when to use each, and how to mount and commission them so your alarms and pumps behave. You’ll see practical tips for sump pumps, lift stations, and high‑high overfill protection, plus fail‑safe wiring habits.
🧪 Bench‑Top Mini‑Lab
🧪 For a float: Suspend a cable float from a rod over a bucket; adjust tether length to see how deadband grows and shrinks.
🧪 For a tuning fork: Dip the fork into a cup of water and watch a pilot lamp or indicator change; try a foamy soap mix to see why forks ignore “false wet.”
🧪 Build a two‑point pump control with two switches: low = pump ON, high = pump OFF. Add a one‑second on‑delay to stop chatter.
