Hi all
On 22 April we went for a night drive at the Rietvlei Nature Reserve for some owl spotting. It was a unique opportunity to see one of our closest nature reserves after gate closing times and hopefully also spot some nocturnal birds and animals. We were lucky to find a serval on the hunt very early on in the drive and on the way back to the main gate we also had a brief sighting of two porcupines on the road.
Unfortunately not many owls to be seen and only the one fiery necked nightjar. Perhaps due to the early onset of the cold here in the hiveld that had us in our thick jackets already!
