1977 FORD GRANADA -- THE MEDIUM SIZE LUXURY FORD

Описание: Ford introduced the Granada in 1975 as a compact luxury model. It is a down scaled Ford LTD with features and appointments that mimicked it's older brother. At it's intro, the Granada took the public buyers by storm. More than 302,000 were built in '75 and became Ford's best seller. The Granada was plat-formed on the modest Maverick and it was shown to compete with the likings of the Cadillac Seville with the modesty of the VW Rabbit. Advertising copy even dared to compare a Granada to the Mercedes Benz! Also this year, Mercury of course had to have something to sell as well, so the Mercury Monarch which was very similar to the Granada was created. The '77 shown here is very much similar to the '75 with a few trim piece changes. It is though still an upper level rendition of a LTD but in compact form. The plush vinyl interior and dash, superior paint finish, and vinyl trim are some of the features you wouldn't find on other compacts. The Granada came in 2 & 4 door sedans as well as the even more luxurious Granada Ghia. This 2-door coupe cost $4,000 and there were 157,612 2-doors sold this year. Engine choices ranged from an L-head 6, 200 / 96, L-head 6, 250 / 98, V8, 302 / 122, and the 351 / 135.
