Transcript:
I was working at St Thomas’ hospital, which is one end of Westminster Bridge – which is dead opposite parliament. So I was walking over the bridge to go to Westminster tube when it all happened.
And I just got on the bridge when I heard noises, screaming, what I thought was breaking plastic – it sounded like hard plastic being broken. So that which made me turn around, fortunately. So when I turned around he was about as far away as a yard from me, so I couldn’t get out the way. And he hit me, and that was it.
I had multiple fractures to my left leg. There was mention that they were going to take my leg off, but luckily the guys at Chelsea Westminster hospital saved my leg. I had a broken left arm, a split vertebra in my back, and lacerations.
Yeah, it happened. No, it wasn’t very nice. It was awful, but at the end of the day I’m here. I’m alive, so you’ve just gotta get on with it. You’ve just gotta get on with it. It’s as simple as that.
I found a newspaper cutting from The Sun that said Slater and Gordon are looking after a person on Westminster Bridge, so I just rang Slater and Gordon and the rest is history.
They got it all sorted so I’d see a counsellor, which was very good; a physio therapist, which was very good as well. But, yeah, that’s how I got over it.
Well, not got over it, but got through it.
