In this episode of The Sound Hunt, I document the process of searching for recording locations and setting up omnidirectional microphones mounted directly on tree trunks.
By placing spaced omni microphones on trees, the forest itself becomes part of the recording system. The physical distance and natural barriers between the microphones introduce spatial cues differences in timing, level, and environmental interaction resulting in a wide, immersive sense of space without the use of artificial baffles or head mounted rigs.
This approach focuses on listening, placement, and environment rather than performance.
