Many teach that judgment in verses 11–15 is based only on people’s past sins committed in ignorance, portraying God as cruel and merciless. But Jesus’ words in John 5:28–29, Paul’s explanation in 1 Corinthians 15:24–26, and his personal testimony in 1 Timothy 1:12–16 all show otherwise. The dead are raised during the millennium, given the opportunity to repent, and judged by their deeds while still considered “dead in sin” until made alive through Christ.
