Welcome to the opening episode of the discourse!
In this age, when we have numerous commentaries on one of the greatest epics, Srimanmahabharata, it is important to understand it in the right way. Our Acharyaji who is well-known as Vyasa-Valmiki hrdayanjna, has always remained true to the original text be it while delivering lectures or writing commentaries and novels. This particular lecture series is more of analyzing the role of each character of Mahabharata and what lesson they teach us.
Acharyaji gives a brief introduction to the text with historical details as to when Mahabharata took place. There is a fallacy going around that the epic was not written by one person but is written by a committee. Acharyaji explains why it is wrong and narrates the incident of how Maharshi Vedavyasa wrote it. While doing so, he mentions how Maharshi Vedavyasa wrote several kootashlokas (complex verses) and deciphers one.
He begins narration from the point where Kunti brings her five children to Hastinavati post Pandu Maharaja's demise. Tomorrow's lecture is a detailed analysis of Bheeshma.
