The Kartikswami Temple is dedicated to the Lord Subramanian. It is believed that the bones of Kartikeya is there in the temple. The temple is situated in the Krauncha Parvat in Himalayan Garwal ranges. From the temple a 360 degree scenic view is available which is mesmerizing. We can see the Chaukamba peaks and Kedarnath peaks from here. The trek is 3.5 kms which is steep and may take more than 1 hour to reach temple.
Kanakchauri is a less poulated remote Himalayan village. One can experience Pahadi lifestyle and food here in the Homestays.
From Rudraprayag around 40 kms single line road will take us to Kanakchauri. Please fill enough petrol from Rudraprayag itself as there is no petrol pumps after that towards Kanakchauri. But in emergency you can purchase petrol at an extra cost from local shops in Kanakchauri.
