This is not background music.
This is a listening practice created with the living bioelectric signals of trees in a pine forest that was recently destroyed by a powerful storm in Leiria, Portugal.
In the early morning of February 24, around 4 a.m., storm Kristine arrived and brought down almost every large tree that once stood here. Many of these trees had been growing for decades. Overnight, the landscape changed completely.
Walking through the forest now, something unexpected can be felt: silence.
Not an empty silence, but a deeper stillness that invites the nervous system to slow down and listen.
Using bioelectric sensors connected to plants and modular synthesizers, the tiny electrical signals of living trees and roots can be translated into sound.
Even in a forest that appears destroyed, the signals tell another story.
Life is still moving underground.Roots are still alive.New roots are forming. And somewhere nearby, new trees have already begun to grow.
Nature always knows how to begin again.
This video is simply a moment of presence and listening in respect for all these trees.
Allow your nervous system to slow down. There is nothing to achieve here.Just listen.
