In the beginning God created heaven and earth and all that therein dwells. God placed man in a perfect environment and gave man a wife which was a companion that was perfectly adequate for all of his human needs (love, fellowship, helpfulness, etc.).
Man was at peace with his God, with his wife, with the earth, and with the beasts of the field. Man only knew all that was good which came from God. And man knew nothing regarding that which is evil which came from Satan.
Why then did the man and his wife sin against God through disobedience to God's commandment? What did they have to gain by disobeying God? What do you have to gain by disobeying God? Why didn't the man and his wife believe the Lord when he warned them of the deadly consequence of sin? Why don't you believe God when He warns you, in His written word, of the deadly consequences of your sin?
Should we not be, as God admonishes in Romans chapter 16, wise concerning that which is good and simple concerning that which is evil? If we call ourselves followers of Jesus Christ should we not turn away from and reject everything concerning that which is evil and cling to that which is good? If we, as Christians, already enjoy a perfect relationship with the Father in heaven through His Son Jesus Christ, why would we spoil that relationship through sin and careless living?
Pastor James Knox brings a timely message to the churches of our day which should force us to examine ourselves to see if we are truly following that which is good or following that which is evil.
