THIS VIDEO WAS FILMED OVER A MONTH AGO!!
Due to issues in editing, this video was put on hold. I had no idea at the time the events that are happening now were about to unfold. I did not film this video in the past few days in hopes to get views/clout. However, I feel like the things I said in this video are extremely important, and should be heard. I am not the first person to bring up these issues, but I will continue to bring them up until these issues are no more. BLACK LIVES MATTER! Brown skin is beautiful, and I look down on any brand that disagrees.
In today's video, I'm giving my opinions on the Physicians Formula X Casey Holmes Butter Collection. This collection is yet another product this brand has released that excludes darker people of color. They claim they stand with the black community, but their shade range tells a different story. We need to continue to call out these cosmetic brands who continue to act as if dark skin isn't a thing. I follow and watch many dark-skinned makeup artists, and it upsets me they struggle to find brands that cater to their skin tone.
The makeup industry is for EVERYONE. It doesn't matter if you are Straight, Gay, Pansexual, White, Black, Asian, etc. You should feel welcome and included in the beauty community. That, however, isn't always the reality. Many brands, such as Physicians Formula, completely ignore darker people of color and refuse to release products in darker shades. This isn't right, and in this day and age, they should know better. I hope brands start releasing more shades to be more inclusive very soon. The time is now! There is no excuse for not being inclusive. Hire black employees and black makeup artists who can give their opinions on the products. Actually test the products on a wide range of black women who have a drastic difference in skin tone from the lightest to darkest, and get their opinions too! So many brands say it’s hard to create products for darker people of color, but the reason that is, is because they are a group of white people trying to understand skin they’ve never even touched. You need the opinions of people of color when making products for them. Quit making ridiculous excuses for your ignorance when it comes to black skin, and take action! Be inclusive, or don’t make any skin products at all! Period!
