‘National Monuments’ Reviewed By EAC-PM, ‘75 British Graves' Taken Off List | The Newshour Agenda

Описание: In this episode of The Newshour Agenda, the host Padmaja Joshi will be discussing how it has been recommended by the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) that the government develop meaningful standards and a thorough process for designating monuments as being of national significance. The EAC-PM noted that funding for the preservation and upkeep of monuments of national importance is insufficient in a study titled "Monuments of National Importance - Urgent Need for Rationalization." As of right now, 3,695 MNI in India are protected by ASI. Ancient and historical monuments, as well as archaeological sites and remains, are designated as being of national interest under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act (AMASR Act), which was passed in 1958 and revised in 2010. The EAC-PM member Sanjeev Sanyal's report also suggested that the implementing organisations should get the proceeds from these monuments. We are joined by Sanjeev Sanyal, EAC-PM who will be expressing his views on this issue. “There is no point politicizing the issue. What's the point in protecting or preserving the graves of colonial-era officers?” says Sanjeev Sanyal.
