Roan Mountain Sunrise - 3 SB6K Peaks - Grassy Ridge, Roan High Knob, Roan High Bluff - South Beyond 6000
We woke up early to check out the Roan Mountain Sunrise and hike to 3 SB6K Peaks.
We parked at Carvers Gap and headed to the first peak, Grassy Ridge while taking in a beautiful Roan Mountain Sunrise.
After taking in the gorgeous views at the top of Grassy Ridge we hiked back to Carvers Gap and walked across the road to follow the Appalachian Trail to the Roan High Knob. This peak is located near the Roan High Knob shelter which is the highest shelter on the Appalachian Trail.
Next we headed to Roan High Bluff. We continued on the Appalachian Trail and then cut through the parking lot to the Cloudland Trail.
This hike was about 11.5 miles total.
Grassy Ridge, 6160 feet
Roan High Knob, 6285 feet
Roan High Bluff, 6267 feet
