Magic of the Real: A Christian's Perspective on the Fantasy Genre

Описание: Last summer I had the privilege to attend the 2020 Realm Makers virtual writer's conference, where ND Wilson (100 Cupboards) gave the opening keynote. He raptured every attendee's attention with his witty, practical, and novel outlook on Christian writers and the fantasy genre. In Wilson's opinion, our natural world is a fantasy world because God's creation is fantastic. And because of this, fantasy authors are demonstrating a form of worship by imitating God's creation--not for escapism, but to drive their readers back to the "real" world, because we're all living as characters in God's fantasy novel.

The keynote really left me with some big thoughts: like how we can all strive to live as a book character we would want to read about, how we should listen to how God tells us stories and to write like He does, that realism can go hand-in-hand with fantasy....

For my Masters degree in graphic design at Pensacola Christian College, I had to create a project that was meant to be informative, and I had a total of two and a half weeks to work on it (with Hurricane Sally smack dab in the middle of the whole thing). I wanted to try sharing some of Wilson's thoughts and wisdom from the conference, but in a condensed kinetic type video. I thought a number of times that I had bitten off more than I could chew, but I was pleasantly surprised that I remembered a few After Effects tricks from the last time I made a kinetic type video (thankfully, because I'd have died otherwise).
