WA House Bill 1240 on assault weapon ban passes Senate, heads back to House

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Senate has passed House Bill 1240, which would ban the import and sale of popular rifles, including AR-15s.
The Bill was first passed by the House in March. The bill includes guidelines of what kinds of guns would be prohibited, including a specific list with the prohibited models.
The bill wouldn't ban those firearms from people who already purchased them.
Here is a list of what would be banned:
Semi-automatic rifles with an overall length less than 30 inches
Fixed magazines with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds
Semi-automatic pistols with the capacity to accept a detachable magazine
Semi-automatic shotguns with one or more additional features
-Specific models, including the AK-47, AK-74, AR-15, M-16, and M-4 in all forms
Some amendments discussed in March included making exceptions for purchasing threaded barrels and silencers and providing a six-month period to get rid of inventory for gun sellers.
Since amendments were made to the bill by the Senate, the bill will head back to the House before it is sent to Governor Inslee's desk.
