Gateron DEEPPING [sic] Switch Sound Test (4mm then 3.7mm) + My Thoughts | Kohaku PP Plate

I am unsure how to pronounce these but I like to think that it's a typo lol. In any case, these are a new linear switch that caught my attention for a couple of reasons, but mainly because of the 4 little silicone inserts in the bottom housings, which aren't there to dampen the sound of the switch. From the top down: these are a full nylon switch with a milky nylon top, made using the same molds as oil kings, and a black nylon bottom housing that use a custom Swagkeys mold. They have a POM stem that comes in either a 4mm travel or 3.7mm travel length. It's worth noting that the 4mm travel version bottoms out on the stem's pole instead of the bottom of the sliders (and yes, it is a true full 4mm from my measurements). They come factory lubed with what I would consider to be too much lube, although it is less than the amount on my batch of Gateron's Lunar Probes. Unlike oil kings, the lubricant is a grease, although I am unsure if it is 205g0 or what. I've been typing on these switches for almost 2 weeks, and I haven't experience variable push feel or bottom-out sound from lube making its way into the pole shaft. That's not to say that it can't happen though.

Overall, I actually really like the sound of these switches. They seem to have a very subtle yet audible scratchy sound on the downstroke. These would be my dream stock switches with 2 changes. If they can tweak their factory lubing technique so a bit less lube is applied, these could be even better than HMX. The 2nd thing, and what prevents me from recommending these, is the price. $0.75 for a switch that's pre-lubed with a grease may have been reasonable a few years ago, but it is over two times the cost of the most expensive HMX switch for a switch that you will probably have to remove a bit lube of lube from (to be fair, I've been using them stock and loving them but still...).
