1. Cation Exchange Chromatography: Carboxymethyl(CM)-cellulose is used, binds with positively charged proteins.
2. Anion Exchange Chromatography: Diethylaminoethyl (DEAE)-cellulose, binds with negatively charged proteins.
3. Mixed Bed: Both, cation exchanger and anion exchanger are used but in different ratio.
