Keir Starmer has asked his ethics adviser to investigate minister Josh Simons after claims have emerged that Labour Together which he used to run, commissioned a report looking into the backgrounds of journalists.
Labour's Darren Jones provided a statement to answer the urgent question on the subject in the House of Commons Monday.
The subject drew fire from all angles as MPs on both sides of the bench expressed their distaste for such a breach of the freedom of the press.
