The main story is the unexpected amount of home runs being hit by Brady Anderson of the Baltimore Orioles, who normally does not hit home runs but would end the year hitting 50, only the third player to hit 50 home runs in one year in the previous decade.
Ken Griffey Jr. makes one of the catches of the year saving a home run against the defending AL Champion Cleveland Indians. Andy Petite continues his dominance to be one of the finalist candidates for the AL Cy Young.
