What do you do when you love parts of your artwork—but the whole thing just isn’t working?
In this week’s Monday Marks Vlog, I’m sharing my cut and assemble collage process using four abandoned mixed media works on paper. Instead of forcing them to work, I cut out the sections I still loved, assembled them onto a smaller substrate, and continued the marks and colors into the spaces between.
This process is about editing with confidence, letting go of the original composition, and rebuilding artwork that reflects who you are now. If you’re a mixed media or collage artist with unfinished or failed work, this strategy can help you move forward.
Watch to see how cutting can become a creative tool—not a last resort.
