Описание: Today we do a burn off and seasoning of the Recteq RT-B380 Bullseye. We start this off with cleaning up the grill grate. While doing so, I found that the grate was broken. Once again I called customer service and they sent me out another one. The issues for me keep building for me, but Recteq customer service has been nothing, but professional throughout.

Now off to the Pelletcan of Fame to load up a bucket of apple Bear Mountain Pellets. This is a new unit so anytime you are first starting a pellet smoker or run it dry you will need to prime the fire pot with pellets. Time now for start up. Hit the power button and set the unit at 400.

After I turned it on I smelt smoke for a second and then nothing. In the closeup of the burn pot you see the rust and can here the auger attempting to turn. To me it sounds like a creaking ship. Time to start the trouble shooting process. I read through the manual and decided to give it another shot.

Try 2: What I found out that was pretty cool is that it stays at the last set temp. This time the prime pellets started and we have fire! Now I zoom in for you and show that the auger is not turning. Hindsight being 20/20 I should’ve put so many pellets in before I knew the auger was functional.

Now I need to empty out the pellets. You start my removing the safety guard. In my opinion this is a piece of equipment that’s not needed. Now that it’s cleaned out I can see the auger. What I found here is that it runs for 30 seconds and stops. I ran through a bunch of thinking out loud scenarios. I was at a loss and decided to call customer service. Unlucky for me they were gone on Saturday and this was the Labor Day weekend. I try something next out of desperation and for one reason or another it starts to work.

So she is working for now. I ran it at what I thought was 400 for an hour. (That thought comment will be addressed in a later episode) After a half day of tinkering around we we were on to the seasoning. I turned the temperature down to 350 and put on some bacon. What happens next is the first thing that really gave me some great concern. I wouldn’t recommend seasoning this unit with bacon. Here comes grease fire #1. In all my years of grilling I have never had a grease fire. A bourbon fire, yes. It was very concerning that the first thing I ever put on this grill caused a fire.

Next up I show you the aftermath. Guess you can say it’s seasoned? So now I clean up the inside hoping this helps the next time I fire it up I don’t get the same result. Then just a recap and we bring this video to an end.
