Husband visits wife and former CNA of more than 60 years every day in same nursing home

Описание: Ten years ago, Howard Lacey's wife Marilyn suffered a stroke and went into cardiac arrest while on the job as a CNA at Good Samaritan Society – Algona in Iowa. He had to perform CPR on her.

Now, Marilyn is a resident at the same long-term care center, getting the same assistance she used to provide. Every day, Howard visits his sweetheart and wife of more than 60 years. He said, "She would have always been here for me if it was the other way around. You're married until death do us part."

During his many hours supporting Marilyn at the center, Howards noticed that some of Marilyn's fellow residents didn't get many visitors. That's when he decided to put together an afternoon coffee event for residents. The endeavor brewed to something significant, sometimes getting nearly the whole facility involved.

This is why Howard is being honored by the Good Samaritan Society as the 2023 National Ever Forward Volunteer Champion.
