Luftmunitionsanstalt Hohenleipisch

Ab 1936 wurde auf dem 368 ha großen Gelände Munition fertiggestellt, gelagert und von hier aus zu den militärisch wichtigen Flugplätzen der Umgebung (Finsterwalde, Großenhain, Alt- Lönnewitz) transportiert. Unter anderem auch die Raketenpanzerbüchsengranate (8,8 cm R.Pz.B.Gr.4322), Munition für den "Puppchen" genannten Raketenwerfer der deutschen Wehrmacht. 104 Lagerbunker, Munitionsarbeitshäuser, Luftschutz- Deckungsgräben, eine Tankstelle und Verwaltungsgebäude waren durch die versteckte Lage im Wald gut getarnt, die Muna wurde aus der Luft nie entdeckt. Nach Kriegsende bis zur Wende nutzte die GSSD das Gelände als Artillerie- Munitionsdepot.
Heute zeigt sich das Gelände in erstaunlich unberührtem Zustand, viele kleine Relikte und Spuren der Zeit kann man noch entdecken. Aber auch für weniger geschichtlich Interessierte bietet das Gebiet ein schönes Naturerlebnis. Seit 2005 ist ein Teil des Areals Naturschutzgebiet und Teil des Naturparks Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft. Die Pflege obliegt der Hanse Forst AG, die hier beispielhaft zeigt, wie nachhaltige Waldwirtschaft funktionieren kann. Alte Eichen und Kiefern mit beeindruckendem Stammumfang kann man hier bestaunen. Und mit etwas Glück den Hirschkäfer (Lucanus cervus), den Schwarzspecht (Dryocopus martius) oder die Mopsfledermaus (Barbastella barbastellus) beobachten. Nicht zu verwechseln mit dem Gemeinen Mops, der die Filmerstellerin hier begleitete...

From 1936 ammunition was completed, stored and transported from here to the militarily important airfields in the area (Finsterwalde, Grossenhain, Alt-Lönnewitz) on the 368 ha site. Among other things, the rocket armor shell grenade (8.8 cm R.Pz.B.Gr.4322), ammunition for the "Puppchen" rocket launcher of the German Wehrmacht. 104 storage bunkers, ammunition workhouses, air raid trenches, a gas station and administration building were well camouflaged due to the hidden location in the forest, the muna was never discovered from the air. From the end of the war until the political changes after 1989, the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany used the site as an artillery ammunition depot.
Today the site is in astonishingly untouched condition, many small relics and traces of time can still be discovered. But the area also offers a beautiful natural experience for those less interested in history. Since 2005, part of the nature reserve area and part of the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft nature reserve. Maintenance is the responsibility of Hanse Forst AG, which shows here how sustainable forest management can work. Old oaks and pines with impressive trunk circumference can be admired here. And with a little luck, watch the stag beetle (Lucanus cervus), the black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius) or the barbastelle bat (Barbastella barbastellus).
