Описание: European Council President António Costa met Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš in Prague on August 27 as EU leaders intensify negotiations over the bloc's next 2028–2034 budget. Costa said the EU must reach a deal by the end of 2026 while shifting spending towards defence, security, competitiveness, innovation and strategic resilience, but preserving cohesion and agricultural support. Babiš warned that proposed cuts to cohesion and farm funds are unacceptable for Czechia and argued that Europe's industrial competitiveness is being hurt by high energy and emissions costs. The leaders also discussed affordable energy, EU enlargement and support for Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans.
