In 1879, famous outlaw Billy the Kid held a secret meeting with territorial governor Lew Wallace under cover of darkness. The meeting took place at the home of J.B. Wilson in Lincoln, New Mexico, where the pair cut a secret deal to help clean up crime in the county. Billy agreed to give his testimony in a murder case, and Lew agreed to give Billy a pardon for his own unrelated crimes. Billy upheld his end of the bargain, but Governor Wallace did not.
In today's episode, we're visiting the site of the old house where this infamous event in Western history took place.
