History
Anglican, Church of England, originally a medieval church, damaged during the 17th century Civil War, was replaced by Anthony Keck in 1772. Restored by local architect W J Hopkins in 1860.

It became known as 'Old St.Martin's' from the early 20th century when a new St Martin’s church accommodating populations moving away from the centre to the south east was built on the London Road. Since then known as 'old' and 'new' St.Martin's.
