it's important to clarify that Alexander the Great and Chandragupta Maurya never directly fought a war against each other.
Alexander invaded India around 326 BCE, but he left the subcontinent before Chandragupta Maurya fully established his empire. Chandragupta rose to power in Magadha shortly after Alexander's departure, consolidating his rule and eventually overthrowing the Nanda Empire.
However, there were interactions between the Mauryan Empire and the Hellenistic kingdoms that emerged after Alexander's death. Most notably, Chandragupta Maurya did engage in a conflict with Seleucus I Nicator, one of Alexander's generals and the founder of the Seleucid Empire, around 305 BCE. This conflict ended in a peace treaty, with Seleucus ceding territories in exchange for war elephants.
So, while not a direct war with Alexander, the Mauryan Empire did have significant military and diplomatic interactions with the Hellenistic world that followed Alexander's conquests.
