Описание: Thoughts on finity abound in the texts of Bach’s cantatas. Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis (BWV 21) too refers to the struggle with a life that is fleeting. What this instrumental sinfonia at the start of the cantata would express beyond a musical emotion that cannot be captured in philosophical terms is uncertain — and was probably so to Bach himself. What remains true, however, is that the music breathes a spirituality that is resolute in its pursuit of the sublime.
