This session covers:
Night in Muzdalifah
Significance and what to do on this blessed night
Muzdalifah is an open, level area near Mecca in Saudi Arabia, crucial to the Hajj pilgrimage. Pilgrims travel here from Arafah on the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah (after sunset) to spend the night under the open sky, perform Maghrib and Isha prayers, and collect pebbles for the symbolic stoning of the devil in Mina the following day on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah.
Key Aspects of Muzdalifah:
Location: Situated southeast of Mina, between Arafat and Mina, about 18 km from Mecca.
Hajj Rituals: Staying overnight in Muzdalifah and offering Fajr (dawn) prayer there is considered a wajib (mandatory) part of Hajj.
Significance: It is a place of reflection, rest, and equality, where all pilgrims rest on the ground, mirroring the actions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Stoning Preparation: Pilgrims collect 70 small pebbles needed for the "stoning" (Ramy) of the Jamarat in Mina.
Masjid Mashar al-Haram: A prominent mosque located in this area, which is historically significant and mentioned in the Quran.
Environment: It is a flat, open area with minimal shade or luxury amenities, emphasizing humility and spiritual focus.
Delivered on Sunday 10th May 2026
