Deep within Castle Nocturne lies the Library of the Endless, a vast cathedral of knowledge where candlelight clings to black stone and the shelves rise like towers into shadow. Ancient tomes, forbidden grimoires, war journals, and outlawed histories crowd its aisles, gathered across centuries by kings, scholars, and conquerors of the Unseelie Court. Here, knowledge is not merely studied but guarded, because some volumes still whisper with old magic and dangerous truths.

The Library remembers old names and older promises. It holds records of Zevris and Nyxiel. Ancient sovereigns tied to the darker parts of this realm, and the whispered tale that Death once looked into Night and fell in love with the void. Some say it was at the Edge of the Endless, where the world falls silent and the black between stars begins. There, Death looked into the abyss and found not terror but beauty, the deepest requiem of night itself. Whatever the truth, the Library keeps it close, sealed behind ink, oath, and shadow.

It is also very much alive in its own way. Wards coil through the shelves like unseen serpents and many of the books defend themselves. Some bite. Some scream. Some release spells the moment an uninvited hand touches the page. There are tomes that flood the room with illusions, scrolls that snap shut like traps, and a few infamous volumes that have been known to shrink trespassers down to the size of mice and leave them scurrying between the stacks until someone merciful finds them again. Scholars who belong here move carefully and with respect. Those who do not tend to learn very quickly why Castle Nocturne keeps its knowledge protected.

Now this chamber belongs mostly to Nox. You will find him here more than anywhere else, with the Vales prowling the stacks on some impossible errand, or Draven claiming a corner table like he intends to outlive the books through spite alone. There are other libraries within the castle, but this is Nox’s favorite, the one he returns to when the court is loud and the world is demanding. The stained glass Bloodmoon window was his idea, a deliberate bruise of crimson above the aisles, a reminder of what Nocturne is and what it has always been. The Library of the Endless stands as both archive and sanctuary, a place where the past of Aeternia waits patiently for those bold enough to open its pages and quiet enough to hear what opens back.
