This is captain Srecko Ban's announcement about a problem on one of our propulsion motors that happened as we left New Jersey the day before. Nobody was aware about this (and nothing seemed out of the ordinary) until this announcement was made on day 2 at around noon. The only affect of this problem was that we had to sail at a slower speed than the normal speed of 22 knots. We sailed probably around 15 knots. Because of this, our itinerary of New Jersey-Port Canaveral-CocoCay-Nassau-New Jersey had to be changed. Instead of Port Canaveral on day 3, we would go straight to CocoCay and arrive on day 4. We arrived ahead of the original schedule on day 4. We left CocoCay at the regular time of 5 PM and quickly sailed to Nassau, a journey that usually takes overnight only took us only 4 hours. We wanted to maximize our time in Nassau so they could fix the problem. We arrived at Nassau at 9 PM the same day and spent 21 hours there, leaving at 6 PM the next day as scheduled. We then went to Port Canaveral the next day. This was where the one bad affect of the itinerary change happened. Since it was our first point of entry into the US, customs had to clear the ship and check everyone's passport. This usually happens in New Jersey when everyone is getting off the boat, but it was a disaster when everyone wasn't leaving. They sent a letter saying that everyone had to get off and wait in the terminal until the ship was empty. Excursions left first, and since I was on one I got off quickly and enjoyed the day at Kennedy Space Center. Back at the port, i found out that it took them approximately three hours to get everyone off. In the meantime, everyone had to sit in the Carnival terminal (since Majesty of the Seas took the Royal Caribbean terminal) where there was not much to eat or do. Eventually everyone got back on. It was clear that this was probably the first time this happened, and RCI was not too prepared. If this happens in the future, they probably will know how to make the experience better and get everyone back onboard quickly. Other than that, everything on the cruise went very smooth and everyone handled it very professionally (minus Port Canaveral). I had an IFly reservation for the second sea day, which was now the day we were in Florida. RCI made a smart move and switched the reservations on day 6 to day 3 and vice versa. In conclusion, this was a very minor problem that did not affect the cruise very much. Maybe others on the boat at the time didn't feel the same way, and if you do, comment below. But that's just my perspective on it.
