We first became aware of Operation Underground Railroad when we were asked to sing as part of a benefit concert in support of the organization. In the following months we had the chance to meet O.U.R.'s founder, Tim Ballard, and hear firsthand from him the incredible things that they were doing all over the world. We were also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to see a pre-screening of the movie “The Abolitionists.” We were not only extremely moved by the film, but were deeply motivated to do something to help raise awareness of and garner support for this unbelievable group that was literally going into the darkest corners of the earth to rescue children.

We chose the songs "Say Something" (Great Big World) and “Angel" (Sarah McLachlan) because more than just sounding hauntingly beautiful together, they really highlight the two extremes of this situation. First, the horrors and hopeless nature of these kids’ reality as they suffer in silence, secretly pleading for someone with a voice more powerful than their own to speak up and pull them from the living hell they are experiencing. Second, the introduction of hope in the form of people (angels) willing to selflessly put their own lives at risk in an effort to try and “ pull [these kids] from the wreckage.” In addition, we are privileged to have had the chance to work with well known YouTuber and our good friend, Madilyn Paige (@MadilynPaige_) on this video whose stunning voice brought exactly what was needed to this song.
