Yom Teruah — also known as the Feast of Trumpets — is not just a tradition, it’s a biblical command from God. In Hebrew, Yom Teruah literally means “a day of trumpet blasts,” marked by the sounding of the shofar (ram’s horn).
This day begins the Ten Days of Awe leading up to Yom Kippur, a time when people are called to examine their lives and repent of their sins. But beyond tradition, God Himself ordered Yom Teruah to be a holy convocation, a sacred gathering, and a day of Sabbath rest.
The Feast of Trumpets is a wake-up call: to stop, repent, and prepare our hearts for God. Are we listening to the sound of the trumpet?
