What is RIASEC?

Short for Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional, RIASEC is a personality-type framework and vocabulary for career development used to describe personal interests and preferences for students, along with the style of work needed for jobs and tasks.

MoCo CAP uses RIASEC as a common language to work with Montgomery County Public Schools’ students to understand their individual strengths, interests, and values, along with exploring their career options after graduation.

MoCo CAP is Montgomery County’s program to address part of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future College and Career Readiness pillar by working with the nearly 90,000 MCPS students in grades 6 through 12 to be better prepared to enter the workforce and/or start college after graduation.
